Selma is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, often described as the “Start-up-Grande-Dame. As Vice-President of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN), she is among the most influential women in European early-stage investing on a mission to promote more women in angel investing and empowering female founders. She is the co-founder and board member of the Austrian Angel Investors Association (AAIA), and the founder of Brainswork, an influential boutique consultancy for creation & growth of startups and purpose-driven communities & eco-systems. Selma is also the founder of 1MillionStartups, the multimedia startup-visibility platform dedicated to entrepreneurs working towards the UN SDGs. As a professional speaker, Selma has given over 1,000 talks on stage (including TEDx, UNIDO) and has also presided on the juries of various start-up investment competitions more than 100 times (including the Austrian start-up TV show “2Minuten-2Millionen” (loosely: 2 minutes for 2 million). Over the last 30 years, she has worked with thousands of entrepreneurs, startups, and angel investors and has seen what works and what doesn't. She committed to sharing her experience, helping entrepreneurs avoid some of the mistakes, and making their (entrepreneurial) lives easier and more successful.
